February 1, 2002:

We were going to practice today, but our bassist got grounded for burning things in his driveway...

January 20 and 21, 2002:

Alan spent the night at Ryan's house. We were going to write some songs, but we ended up doing some other "stuff" (Ryan: lousy music, distracted acting, hehehe)...

January 18, 2002:

Ryan spent the night at Alan's house. Using Alan's multitracker, they recorded a completely improvisational song.

December:

Alan completed building his own ultrasonic transducer, consisting of PZT and AlNiCo. Testing the acoustics of the transducer as compared to commercial transducers was his Physics research project for the 2001-2002 school year. He won first place in his category at the 2002 Governor's School Project Forum, competing against high school students. The transducer is attached to an acoustic guitar. Ryan got an Epiphone Dot Hollowbody Guitar and Jarrod got an Ibanez Bass Guitar. Alan and Ryan have both been writing music.

November:

Alan wrote and recorded a song in two days, and entered it into the PTA Reflections Contest. It won first place, with all seven of the judges voting in favor of his composition over the other entries. A wave file of the song can be found on the Music page. Alan and Ryan have both been writing music.
